Getting Going....Fitness

Oct 31, 2006  ·  07:17 AM

Having suffered a number of muscle and connective-tissue injuries last season, I resolved that this year I would focus on fitness and train specifically for ski season—something I’ve never had to do before (and a sign that the mid-30s have started catching up to me).

This summer was not as productive in this regard as I had hoped, so now I’m scrambling for a fitness plan that will get me well on my way by Thanksgiving.

Getting Going....Gear

Oct 26, 2006  ·  01:46 AM

In Colorado we’re lucky enough to have an early start to the season. This year, Arapahoe Basin opened on Oct 13 and Loveland opened the day after. We’ve had enough snow that Wolf Creek will have its earliest opening ever this Friday. It’s amazing and I hope it bodes well.

But all this resort activity has me scrambling to get my season planned. I don’t know if other people do this, but I think it’s important to enter a season with some goals and plans: Where do you want to go? What do you want from the season? What do you hope to achieve? How will you get ready?

Jason SwihartSnow Hugger lives!

After two year working in the ski industry, I decided that, among other things, it was time to buld my own ski industry. With a great partner like Byron, a bunch a ski and board nuts for friends, and hopefully and little corporate involvement, Snow Hugger is going to be a place to share experiences, tips, hacks, and to sit around with virtual beers to shoot the crap.
